Her Story
Kyra was born on October 5, 1972 in Bayonne, France. Her French father and Dutch mother were adventurers; at the age of two and a half, along with her two brothers and her sister, they headed across the Atlantic to Canada. Transportation of choice: A large ship. Duration: 10 days at sea. She grew up in Eastern Canada. When she was 18 years of age, she headed west to study theatre production and design at the University of Victoria.
A bohemian at heart, Kyra calls Victoria, BC, her homeport. She and her partner Rick live on their Lapworth 36, a 50 year old wooden sailboat. Over the years, she has worked in theatre, special education, and as a French teacher.
Kyra now happily paints and draws in her tiny studio on Vancouver Island. Her works can be found in numerous private collections across Canada and the U.S. Over time, her studio has been in the back of a garden, in a living room, in a hidden gazebo and on a sailboat... Wherever she is, she has a pencil or paintbrush in hand.
